(personal) -Oxford [May. 1st, 2004|04:42 pm]
I had a nice day. I Went to Oxford to take some exam, and Mrs. Thompson was taking me there. Before the exam I met a girl from Ukraine. We talked a little bit before the test and she joined us for a lunch. We all met an ex- Lee Academy teacher Mr.Funderburg, had a conversation about all in the world. Then drank coffee on a balcony of Square Books Store :) Just good day.

I don't think I'll write a lot in this journal anymore, so maybe I'll leave one or two more entries here sometimes.

(friends) Nathan's wreck [Mar. 17th, 2004|07:03 pm]
Nathan got in a wreck when his girlfriend was driving yesterday. He got some medical help and he is fine now, but his girlfriend is in a hospital. She is alright, more or less.

The truck flipped 4 times before it landed and now it looks like a smashed coke can :\. Heh, it's so easy to die young one day.

(personal) Vague idea of pronounciation [Feb. 26th, 2004|07:34 pm]
People say I have a strong accent. Russian accent, I bet (; To be understood is more difficult for me now, than 6 months ago.

The last funny thing was my pronounciation of words that start with "v". Why? I pronounse them exactly like "w". I was suggested to peonaunce Vladivostok and was confused, because what I said was "Wladivostok". That's more than funny. I bet, the same way I pronounce words starting with "z" and "th".

Why? I have one small clue. There are no sounds of "w" and "th" in Russian language, therefore, I had to learn how to say words including these letters. But now, starting to think "in english" or just without extra language thinking between a though and an incoming word, I also started pronouncing these letters without thinking of pronounciation. I'm curious, do other people from Russia do the same mistakes? I think, living in english-speaking country for some time would correct this error of one, but first time this error takes place in one's pronounciation (-:

We rather name things "theories" every time we doubt if they have prooves, even before we start to look for the prooves. Therefore, may be we should use the word "vague ideas" instead? (.

(school/personal/photo) [Feb. 25th, 2004|08:51 pm]
People in Lee all talk about Mr. Funderburg (I've no clue if it's right spelling of his last name). William told me this person couldteach any class in Lee Academy High school. He knew Latin and Greek as well as Russian (yeah, it's interesting here :-] never talked to native American in Russian). It's not a good thing that he left.

I sent my second ACT reg.pack. today. We drunk some earl-grey tea and listened to music with Nathan. I got some pictures I should publish here, by the way. Yeah, there is one of them being already uploaded:

Hm. What is that? It a cotton field in the end of February through the window pane of Nathan's Nissan vehicle taken with unfocused digital camera. But let it be called just “Mississippi, USA.”

(personal) Spontaneous overview: I [Feb. 14th, 2004|05:56 pm]
—was hanging out win Nathan last three days. He listenes to a lot of hard music, so I picked up some CDs to listen this weekend;
—didn't have a date for prom and lead out untill I met Mrs. Hillary Burns last weekend. We met in McDonalds [never ever eat there (-:], and we hanged out with her firends for several hours. Now I have two "pluses": dr_ellipso, tinker_bell2155.
—went to Oxford, MS to Ole-Miss campus with Lee Academy council Mr.Eavenson. The campus is all right and Mr.Eavens told me a bunch of stories about Southern States; for instance, he told me, that Southern States is the name only for several South-Eastern states that were a part of Confideration during the Civil War.
—bought some boots; they cost me $20, just what I had in my pocket, and probably I don't need boots at all, but I trully realize that I spent the money only because I wanted to prove myself that it still meant a little for me. It works, hah.
—figured out something about limo and graduation during the week.
—watched "Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door" last weekend; nice.
—did nothing among other things.

(personal/school) Fake birthday, Mixican style. [Feb. 12th, 2004|05:45 pm]
[mood |cheerful(-:]

On Friday, February, 6th we had pretty nice schoolday. Since a lot of students went to Mock Trial, a law high school competition, a lot of people missed during English class. We had a conversation with Mrs.Thompson for a while, and then somebody came out with idea to go somewhere to eat. Yeah, among those 10 students who were on the class this idea became popular within several seconds.

As a result, Mrs.Thompson went to the principal (Mr.Weiss) with request, and he let us leave with the teacher under some conditions. So we went to the Mexican restaurant [hwy 61, Clarksdale], and had a very good time. Right after we finished lunch, two Mexican waiters came slowly from behind Mrs.Thompson, putting a huge sambrero on her head, and serving a cake in front of the teacher. Moreover, the waiters started to sing "Happy Birthday!" in Spanish, making all of us laugh. Such a nice birthday fake a-la-Mexica!

It was as confusing as sudden, so Mrs.Thompson's face turned red and all she was do is to laugh. Significence of episode may be easily seen if we consider Mrs.Thompsons experience. She already had a "fake birthday" in the past, during some cruise, when she had to dance with a captain because of a joke of here friends.

I think, she really liked the lunch (.
